Clown Chronicles: October 2025
Happenings from the September Meeting
The Meeting was called to order at 6:35pm by President Cinde Sanders. We had 14 clowns in attendance including two guests; Eloisa Flores and Alcia Nunez. We were happy they joined us.
As usual, we began with a “Stand and Share” moment from some members who want to share what they have accomplished this past month. Tricia had fun portraying her character Bertha for Grand Parent’s Day, Rudy is able to be in attendance more because his work schedule has changed. Plus, it was Willie’s birthday — Happy Birthday Deluxo!
We passed the minutes from last month and the Treasurers’ report by a unanimous vote. We have $3865.82 in the main bank account and $8386.16 in the Convention account as of today.
The TCA convention begins this week on Thursday.
William reminded us about volunteering at River Legacy Fall Festival. It is our only fundraiser for the alley. The more help we have and the more balloons we give to families, the more money we will make for our alley. We approved to spend up to $100 on balloons and accessories to be provided at the event to use as supplies. The event is October 11th from 10am-7pm. Hopefully everyone will put in a few hours to help the alley and bring smiles to children’s faces. We will need a nomination slate of officers presented next meeting and voted on in November. Who wants to be on an officer on the board? We did not have any performers for GL:OW so our meeting was adjourned at 7:07. Our program was Paradeability. We presented ideas for the group to perform at the TCA Convention. We decided on “Bizzy Bees”. We developed the bit, planned our costumes and practiced. A Word from Our Clown in Chief
The Magic of Themed Shows: Celebrating Holidays All Year Long! By Cinde “Boopsie” Sanders
As entertainers, we know that every season brings new opportunities to give joy, laughter, and wonder to our audiences. One of the easiest (and most delightful!) ways to keep your show fresh and bookable all year is by adding holiday themes. A well-themed show not only excites your audience but also gives event planners a reason to invite you back again and again.
Spring is the season of new beginnings, It is the perfect time for colorful costumes, and uplifting messages. Think outside the box and bring in random holiday themes. Spring has “Read Across America”, Mardi Gras, Easter, Passover, April Fool’s, St. Patrick’s Day, Earth Day and more.
Summer is full of outdoor events, parades, and family fun! Create a show that sparkles with red, white, and blue. A patriotic magic act, or puppets celebrating friendship and freedom.
Autumn is the season for Fall Festivals and Halloween. It is also a great time to think of educational shows for Back-to-School events. Shows that encourage reading, science and friendships are always a hit with educators.
The holidays are a time of warmth and togetherness, and entertainers are the heart of that joy. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day or just a Winter Celebration are all good themes to build a show around and there are a lot of ideas on these subjects.
By rotating seasonal themes, you give your audience something new every few months and you give clients a reason to book you multiple times a year. Themed shows also spark your creativity, keep your act feeling fresh, and help you connect emotionally with your audience through shared celebrations.
So, whether it’s hearts in February, flowers in April, fireworks in July, pumpkins in October, or snowflakes in December, let your show reflect the joy of the season. After all, every holiday is another chance to celebrate laughter, magic, and fun!
Save the Dates:
For many years, our clown alley has given our time and talents to Children’s Health patients and their families for two holiday events. This year is no exception. Please put the following dates on your calendar to come face paint, make balloons, perform walkaround entertainment or just help out. These events are fun and rewarding in many, many ways. Both events will be held at Hackberry Creek Country Club—1901 W. Royal Lane, Irving, Texas
· Oncology patients: Monday, December 8 — 5-8pm
· Sickle Cell patients: Monday, December 15 — 5-8pm
Ring Those Bells with Margaret Clauder!
We are in for a real treat this month! Our very own Margaret Clauder will be teaching the basics of how to “Ring Bells.” This delightful and educational presentation will walk us through her step-by-step process of creating a fun and engaging bell routine.
Margaret will demonstrate how she sets up the bells, invites children to join her, gives clear and playful instructions, and then leads everyone in a joyful musical performance. Watching how she blends organization, explanation, and creativity is truly inspiring and proves that even the simplest props can make a lasting impact.
Adding bells and music to your routines can make your performances more interactive, memorable, and magical. Whether you’re a clown, magician, or children’s entertainer, this is a skill that will have your audiences smiling and tapping along in no time.
Best of all, we’ll have a hands-on session where everyone can participate and “play along” with the bells. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best. It’s going to be a joyful noise!
Highlights from the TCA Convention
Wow, what a weekend! A big red-nosed THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Texas Clown Association Convention, hosted by our friends, the Cowtown Clowns. What a show they put on. It was a hit from start to finish!
From the moment we arrived, the love and creativity were impossible to miss. The bee-themed décor, photo ops, and friendly buzz set the perfect tone. Opening night began with a touching 9/11 flag presentation by a local Boy Scout troop, a fun visit from the Haltom City Fire Safety Squad, and a sweet ice-cream-cake finale courtesy of the TCA board.
Chagy inspired us once again with his energy and wisdom, while a fresh lineup of presenters filled workshops with laughter and learning. The general meeting passed a new TCA logo and re-energized our alleys to host future conventions. Door prizes, auctions, vendors, and photo ops kept the fun going, while the hotel staff made sure everyone felt right at home.
The banquet capped it all with great food, fantastic entertainment, and joyful laughter. Sunday’s worship service, led by Brenda Marshall, Pam Blacklock, Tricia Gregory, and Linda Green, reminded us all to BEE Friendly, Kind, Patient, Joyful; and most of all, to BEE like Jesus.
To the Cowtown Clowns. Thank you for your time, energy, and heart. To everyone who attended, thank you for bringing your sparkle and smiles.
